Yangxiaozhuang Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Yangdazhuang (in the same section with Yangxiaozhuang, 300 m apart), about 14 km east by north of Shangcheng County, Henan. It was named by Nie Zongsheng et al. in 1959.
Lithology and Thickness
Claystone and Coal. Lower part consists of gray-white and yellow shales, intercalated with quartz sandstone, carbonaceous slate and thin coal seams. Upper part is of black shale intercalated with quartz conglomerate, with altered quartz sandstone at top. Thickness about 900 (?) m.
Well exposed at Juanpengqiao−Fulingwan of Shangcheng County. The rocks contain rich carbonaceous matter, dominated by carbonaceous fine- to powder sandstones, silt-bearing clay rock and silty clay rock, intercalated with coal streaks or lenticular coal seams. The lithology varies greatly laterally. Thickness of the formation is 800−1540 m.
